Thank you for considering the Aquatics & Fitness Professional Association - International certifications for your staff. There are several quality certification organizations in the U.S. each with their advantages and disadvantages.

Below are the top reasons for considering our organization based on quality, value, and customer service. Since we are a non-profit organization, our goal is to provide the instructor with the highest quality certification at the lowest cost, that is the least expensive to maintain and the most flexible.

  • We provide nationally recognized certifications at the lowest regular price.
  • We have the lowest price membership that allows members an additional 10% off our homestudies and workshops as well as a newsletter.
  • We keep our costs down in printing and production and pass the savings on to our instructors.
  • We do not charge our instructors to petition to use other organizations continuing education credits or college level classes in health or fitness when recertifying.
  • We are constantly adding new certifications and courses that help instructors expand their knowledge base and help expand their certification base while renewing their existing certifications.
  • We believe in emphasizing doing what is best for the participants and clients, not what is financially best for the instructor or trainer. Integrity and honestly are our policy.
  • We believe that education, knowledge, and understanding are as important as creativity, musical phasing, and patterning. All of our workshops and courses emphasize the proper balance between education and performance.
Thank you again for considering our organization.
Sincerely,
Cynthia D. Holcomb, Ph. D.

Thank you for considering A-PAI. We are a non-profit organization trying to provide high quality, comprehensive certifications and workshops while keeping the costs reasonable. I hope you find our hosting arrangement agreeable; we would need to confer on a date, the workshops and certifications you would like. Below is the general layout for a certification weekend. It can be modified to meet the needs of your facility.

COMBINATION CERTIFICATION AND WORKSHOP WEEKEND

Phase I of our certifications in conducted Friday night from 5-9 p.m., and starts with 2.5-3 hour lecture and 1-1.5 hours of pool. It continues on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting with 2.5-4 hours of lecture, 2 hours of written testing, and the remaining as practical testing.

Phase II, continuing education consists of an advanced workshop of your choice**. It is conducted Saturday evening from 4 to 7:30 or 8:00 depending on the course chosen. The first 2.5-3 hours is lecture and the remaining time is spent in the pool.

Phase III, advanced certifications or workshops**, are held Sun. There are three options for this day. Either a single workshop Sun. morning from 8am-12pm, two workshops one Sun. morning (8 am to 12 pm) and one Sun. afternoon (1 pm to 5 pm), or one of the advanced certifications which will be conducted from 8am to 8 pm on Sun.

WORKSHOP ONLY WEEKEND

Phase I choose the Friday night workshop with 2.5-3 hours of lecture and 1-1.5 hours in the pool. This class usually runs from 5-8:30 or 9:00 p.m.

Phase II choose three workshops for Sat. The first one will run from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., the second from 12:30-3:30 p.m. and the third from 4:00-8:00p.m.

Phase III you may choose to have workshops on Sunday. Either 1,2, or 3 covering the same time schedule as Saturday.

There are several way to achieve free certifications, workshops or CASH.

1. Provide housing for the presenter either by having them stay with one of your employees or at a hotel and receive one free certification or 2 workshops or the equivalent cash.

2. If you help promote the event then for every 7 paying enrollments in certifications and 5 paying enrollments in workshops (or 10 paying certifications) you receive a free certification or 2 workshops or the equivalent cash.

3. For every 10 paying workshops you receive 1 free workshop, if you are choosing the “Workshop Only Weekend” or the equivalent cash.

*We still need to have the registrations for your employees sent in before the certification weekend so they can study and prepare. If you have arranged housing, we will need to know which employee(s) is receiving the free certification or workshops. You or your employees will be reimbursed or checks returned during the certification weekend for any free certifications or workshops earned from enrollment. Checks are not cashed until the day before the weekend.

** All additional continuing education credits earned on this weekend count toward your employees' re-certification which is due every two years, even if they have to retake part of the certification examinations

A $200 retainer fee is required for us to start advertising the weekend. We send out flyers to all facilities in your state and to all instructors certified with us or who are on our mailing lists. This fee is refunded if at least 5 paying enrollments in certifications and 5 paying enrollments in workshops is achieved.

I look forward to working with you.

Sincerely,

Cynthia D. Holcomb, Ph. D.
